Citizenship news: new industry awards received for our involvement in the educational development of the local community!

The past pandemic years made us even more aware of the need of collaborating for helping those less fortunate than us or for supporting children stay in school and develop their skills. We managed to come together both online and offline, to surpass distances and other challenges and we achieved significant results, not only when talking about work, but also when thinking the CSR activity as well.

And our efforts turned into real positive impact, thus contributing to the development of the supported communities, and inspiring us to continue to do more. In addition to that, our results also brought us two important awards for the “Hack the Future” project. This educational program was implemented, for the second year in a row, together with Cartea Daliei, one of our NGO partners with which we are building sustainable educational projects that are able to generate a positive long-term impact.

The “Hack the Future” 2021 edition gave over 1.400 Romanian children, 9-13 y.o., from both rural and urban areas, the occasion to develop their digital skills to further have better hiring chances and a successful adult life. For this, the project included free online lessons during which children learnt from specially trained volunteers both digital/programming skills (Scratch based programming lessons) and soft skills (how to make a good presentation, how to offer feedback, online safety – bullying and cyberbullying, public speaking etc).

The educational curriculum used for the programming part was developed by Harvard Graduate School of Education. And more than 1.400 hours were spent teaching online classes to the 115 groups of children, 219 volunteers being involved in helping the future generation learn more and develop their critical thinking abilities.

Coming back to the awards received for the “Hack the Future” program, the first distinction, “CSR initiative of the Year”, was received, for the second year in a row, at Romanian Outsourcing and Share Services Awards Gala, another valued competition of the national outsourcing sector where companies submit their CSR projects and compete for receiving recognition.

The second one, the “Business Leader in CSR” award, was received during “ABSL Awards Gala”, the most important competition of the Romanian business outsourcing sector, being the fourth year in a row when Societe Generale Global Solution Centre Romania is offered this distinction for its commitment to the CSR activity.
