New important awards for our involvement in the educational development of the local community

In spite of the still difficult context marked by the pandemic, we managed to adapt our way of working, of collaborating with colleagues and of doing good. We managed to successfully transfer activities online and to surpass distance and other challenges in order to achieve success. Aspects valid not only for our business activity, but for the CSR activity as well. And results didn’t fail to appear, thus giving us with more energy to do good and proving that our Group’s agility, environmental responsibility, and pledge for involvement in communities continue to stand solid despite any challenges.

Recently, our company has been awarded two important distinctions for “Code Hero”, an educational project actively supported by us and implemented together with one of our NGO partners.

The first one, the “Business Leader in CSR” award, was received during ABSL Awards Gala, the most important competition of the Romanian business outsourcing sector, being the third year in a row when Societe Generale Global Solution Centre Romania is offered this distinction for its commitment to the CSR activity.

The second distinction, “CSR initiative of the Year”, was received at Romanian Outsourcing and Share Services Awards Gala, another valued competition of the national outsourcing sector, where companies submit their CSR projects and compete for receiving recognition.

The “Code Hero” 2020 edition gave over 2.000 Romanian children, 9-13 y.o., from both rural and urban areas, the occasion to develop their digital skills in order to further have better hiring chances and a successful adult life. For this, the project included free online lessons during which children learnt from specially trained volunteers both digital/programming skills (Scratch based programming lessons) and soft skills (financial education, public speaking, how to make a good presentation, how to offer feedback, cyberbullying etc.). The educational curriculum used for the programming part was developed by Harvard Graduate School of Education.
