Cariere v5.0 event -10-11 March

In 2011 ASMI (Asociatia Studentilor la Matematica si Informatica) volunteers launched the first edition of Cariere in Bucharest, the first event of its kind in the faculty. The event’s objective is to give students the opportunity to participate at company’s presentations providing guidance and advice to them for their first job.

This year was the fifth edition of the event (thus the v5.0) and SG EBS through its SSC IT department was present at the event as a sponsor.

On March 10 SG EBS participated to Cariere event with a Booth and with a presentation during the open conferences for students.

During Booth activity, students seemed to be very courious about SG EBS activity and were eager to find out more about starting their career within our company.

After a 30 minutes presentation about the SG group, SG EBS with a special focus on the IT projects, the students have asked our colleagues several interesting questions and engaged in an open discussion about:

1. How do we manage the integration of juniors within an already mature team formed mostly of seniors?
2. What kind of positions does the IT market have to offer other than developers?
3. Is the university offering classes about Agile frameworks or Financial Markets?
4. What is the end to end workflow of activities happening in a software development company?

We have also given a short presentation of the recruitment process and talked about the alternative opportunities such as internships or the new Bachelor thesis program that our department has started this year.
